Ep. 04: Dr. Jason Hunt - How to Treat Anxiety with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
You’ll hear from Jason not only how he uses research-based techniques to treat anxiety, depression, and insomnia, but how he applies CBT principles in his own life.
We also talked about:
- The power of normalizing difficult experiences
- The imperative of self-care
- The all-too-common imposter syndrome and fear of failure
- Maintaining high productivity while staying balanced
- Novel ways of delivering effective treatments
I met Jason 8 years ago when I was on the faculty at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania, and Jason was a practicum student finishing his doctorate. He went on to work at Friends Hospital Philadelphia, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, McGuire Air Force Base, Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in South Jersey, as well as in prisons and various forensic settings (which we discuss). I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did.

Interesting podcast conversation about relevent and helpful topics. Dr. Hunt does a fantastic job of communicating complex material in a simplistic and understandable manner, which makes the dialogue enjoyable to listen to.
Thanks, Dustan! That’s exactly why I wanted to have Jason in the podcast. And thank you for listening. This coming week we’ll hear from depression expert Dr. Rob DeRubeis, who also does an excellent job communicating complex ideas in easy to understand language.
