Anything we do is an opportunity to be in our experience, including simple chores like putting away the dishes.

Some things you might keep in mind as you do this exercise:

  • Bring a “beginner’s mind” to the activity, as though it’s your first time doing it.
  • Deliberately practice patience with the task, countering our tendency to want to rush to get on to the next thing.
  • Accept that the mind will almost certainly wander; just bring it back to what you’re doing without criticizing yourself.
  • Enjoy the process!
